There are so many websites, newspaper ads, and people on television promising us that they guarantee us that they will find free money for whatever we want…for a price. The scams that surround this topic are overwhelming at times. But is it a real possibility to get government grants without falling for one of these scams?
It is estimated that more than $400 billion dollars in grant funds are available from the United States government each year. Some of the grants are to be used for small businesses while others are available to minorities and women. There are grants to help pay off hospital bills, grants for debt consolidation and to help pay off your taxes. It seems that almost anyone can get government grants if they know where to find them and how to apply.
First, lets just make it clear that you should never have to pay for information to find instruction on how to get government grants. If the grant is real, there should be information about it on the government’s website or through other government channels. If a business is telling you that they have inside information about grants that are not public knowledge, they are probably trying to scam you out of your hard earned money.
Most of the time, if you are applying to get government grants, you have to qualify in some way, shape or form. There are always hoops that you are going to have to jump through to get the money from any kind of government grant. Some grants, however, make it for easy for certain types of people to get extra money. Nationality, gender, and income levels are a few of the categories of people who are able to obtain grants just by having one of these things in common with what the grant calls for.
If you want to get government grants, you are more than likely going to have to fill out some kind of application form for each particular. You can find the applications and more information about each grant offered at the official government website. When you have found the grant you think you qualify for, you will need to fill out the application. Be sure to follow the instructions on the application to the “T”. The application process may take up to a few days, but if you do not give every detail asked for on the application, the government could deny your request for the grant funds, even if you do qualify otherwise.
Once you have completed the application process, you will need to mail your application to the designated address. You should hear back on whether or not you are eligible to get government grants within a month or so.
While it may not be easy to get many of these government grants, it is not impossible. If you know where to find these grants, you can constantly monitor the types of grants that are made available on a consistent basis until you find one that you are eligible for. It may take patience, but a government grant could be very well worth the wait!
